Thursday Sector Laggards: Industrial, Energy

In afternoon trading on Thursday, Industrial stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.9% loss. Within that group, Generac Holdings Inc (Symbol: GNRC) and General Electric Co (Symbol: GE) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 5.5% and 3.5%, respectively. Among industrial ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLI), which is down 1.0% on the day, and up 7.28% year-to-date. Generac Holdings Inc, meanwhile, is up 4.36% year-to-date, and General Electric Co is up 52.83% year-to-date. Combined, GNRC and GE make up approximately 4.7% of the underlying holdings of XLI.

The next worst performing sector is the Energy sector, showing a 0.8% loss. Among large Energy stocks, Halliburton Company (Symbol: HAL) and Coterra Energy Inc (Symbol: CTRA) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.4% and 2.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Energy stocks is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE), which is down 0.5% in midday trading, and up 7.09% on a year-to-date basis. Halliburton Company, meanwhile, is down 5.73% year-to-date, and Coterra Energy Inc is up 8.31% year-to-date. Combined, HAL and CTRA make up approximately 3.3% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
