Monday Sector Laggards: Technology & Communications, Services

In afternoon trading on Monday, Technology & Communications stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.6% loss. Within that group, Super Micro Computer Inc (Symbol: SMCI) and NVIDIA Corp (Symbol: NVDA) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 8.4% and 5.5%, respectively. Among technology ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), which is down 2.1% on the day, and up 16.33% year-to-date. Super Micro Computer Inc, meanwhile, is up 191.73% year-to-date, and NVIDIA Corp is up 141.47% year-to-date. Combined, SMCI and NVDA make up approximately 6.2% of the underlying holdings of XLK.

The next worst performing sector is the Services sector, higher by 0.1%. Among large Services stocks, Netflix Inc (Symbol: NFLX) and Las Vegas Sands Corp (Symbol: LVS) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.8% and 2.6%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (IYC), which is down 0.2% in midday trading, and up 7.53% on a year-to-date basis. Netflix Inc, meanwhile, is up 36.98% year-to-date, and Las Vegas Sands Corp, is down 8.29% year-to-date. Combined, NFLX and LVS make up approximately 4.5% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
