Wednesday Sector Laggards: Energy, Financial

The worst performing sector as of midday Wednesday is the Energy sector, showing a 1.2% loss. Within that group, EQT Corp (Symbol: EQT) and Trane Technologies plc (Symbol: TT) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 2.8% and 2.1%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLE), which is down 0.9% on the day, and up 9.86% year-to-date. EQT Corp, meanwhile, is down 2.21% year-to-date, and Trane Technologies plc is up 35.44% year-to-date. EQT makes up approximately 1.0% of the underlying holdings of XLE.

The next worst performing sector is the Financial sector, showing a 0.7% loss. Among large Financial stocks, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (Symbol: AJG) and Arch Capital Group Ltd (Symbol: ACGL) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.6% and 2.5%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Financial stocks is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF), which is down 0.8% in midday trading, and up 9.79% on a year-to-date basis. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., meanwhile, is up 13.06% year-to-date, and Arch Capital Group Ltd is up 34.06% year-to-date. Combined, AJG and ACGL make up approximately 1.6% of the underlying holdings of XLF.
