Nokia is a Finnish multinational company. It was founded in 1865, but its name and corporate slogan “Connecting People” gained real global fame in 2000, when it became one of the leading manufacturers of telecommunications equipment and mobile phones. However, by the beginning of the 2010s, the business faced several problems, which resulted in numerous changes in the structure.

In March 2021, the company announced a major reorganization designed to reduce costs, thereby offsetting investments in research and development (R&D) and the promotion of new technologies.

Nokia shares

The positive effect of the reorganization can already be seen: NOK shares (ticker on the NYSE) have started to grow since March 2021.

Since 2019, the company has suspended dividend payments, but in February 2022, due to the successful growth of operating profit that exceeded forecasts, they were announced to be resumed, including payments for 2021.

Nokia also launched a multi-stage share buyback program for a total of €600 mn.
