Compared to Estimates, Disney (DIS) Q2 Earnings: A Look at Key Metrics

Walt Disney (DIS) reported $22.08 billion in revenue for the quarter ended March 2024, representing a year-over-year increase of 1.2%. EPS of $1.21 for the same period compares to $0.93 a year ago.

The reported revenue represents a surprise of -0.23% over the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $22.13 billion. With the consensus EPS estimate being $1.12, the EPS surprise was +8.04%.

  • Revenue- Entertainment- Content Sales/Licensing and Other: $1.39 billion versus the four-analyst average estimate of $1.51 billion. The reported number represents a year-over-year change of -36.8%.
  • Revenue- Sports: $4.31 billion versus the four-analyst average estimate of $4.28 billion.
  • Revenue- Direct-to-Consumer- Advertising: $762 million versus the two-analyst average estimate of $824.85 million. The reported number represents a year-over-year change of +1.6%.
  • Revenue- Direct-to-Consumer- TV/SVOD distribution and other: $75 million versus $43.80 million estimated by two analysts on average. Compared to the year-ago quarter, this number represents a -52.8% change.
