Nuveen S&P 500 Dynamic Overwrite Fund (the Fund) is a closed-end fund. The Fund's investment objective is to seek attractive total return with less volatility than the S&P 500 Index. It pursues its investment strategy by emphasizing index call options on the S&P 500 Index, as well as a range of options, including index options on other broad-based indexes and options on custom baskets of stocks in addition to exchange-traded funds (ETFs). It uses a dynamic call option overwrite strategy within a range of approximately 35% to 75%, with a long-run target of 55% overwrite of the value of the Fund's equity portfolio, in seeking to enhance the portfolio's risk-adjusted returns. Its portfolio includes in industries, such as banks; pharmaceuticals; oil, gas and consumable fuels; Internet software and services; tobacco; household products; machinery, and food and staples retailing.
