The initial public offering of VISA shares on the New York Stock Exchange was made on March 18, 2008 under the ticker symbol V. As a result, 406 mn shares were sold at $44 per share, which was $2 more than the expected upper limit. Proceeds from the IPO amounted to $17.9 bn.
